Tennis For All Ages

Everyone has a unique path toward realizing their potential as a tennis player. As the structure of this website indicates there are many areas of excellence that need to be developed. These include: Technique, Movement, Fitness, Strategy/Tactics, and Mental Training. Some of us excel in some of these areas and have significant deficiencies in others. The great players have learned to master all of these disciplines.

The improvement path can differ, depending on your life experience and chronological age. We work with people of all ages to develop a path forward that is fun, fulfilling, and effective – in terms of achieving tennis goals and keeping a health perspective on where tennis fits in with the rest of life’s responsibilities and challenges.

Here is our general approach.

Juniors

  • Cultivate a love for the game of tennis.
  • Identify realistic and meaningful goals – both external and internal.
  • Integrate gradual and progressively challenging fitness and movement work.
  • Create good habits related to practicing, competing, and the mental approach to the game.
  • Encourage young students to develop a varied, aggresive all-court game and learn all aspects of tennis technique.

Adults

  • Meet each individual where they are at, in terms of time commitment, goals, and current fitness level.
  • Assess previously learned habits and ideas that are either helpful or counterproductive.
  • Be very efficient in time management and design of practice programs as many people have limited time to devote to their tennis game.
  • Provide supplementary resources in the way of lesson notes, resources, and video analysis, to reinforce the learning process.
  • Honor the importance of tennis as part of living a healthy life: an excellent competitive pursuit, an opportunity for physical fitness, and a wonderful social activity.

Seniors

  • First and foremost, keep all activity safe and focus on extending time on the tennis court and the ability to stay active.
  • Support the belief that seniors can excel, improve, and work hard toward excellence.
  • Assess the strengths and physical limitations of each individual.
  • Emphasize balance and agility exercises.
  • Develop technique that is simple and reliable.
