Overview
Movement, particularly in singles, is as important to your success as a tennis player as your strokes. All great tennis players (with a few exceptions of those who have thunderous, unreturnable serves) are exceptional movers.
So what does tennis movement encompass:
- Good footwork.
- Physical ability to move quickly and sustain your movement over a match.
- Anticipation – pa
- Move with purpose – know where to move to in any given situation.
Path to Mastery
- Execute the kinetic chain on all your shots with balls coming right to you.
- Learning and executing all the core footwork and recovery patterns without the ball.
- Execute the movement patterns in a practice situation.
- Developing your physical abilities of: speed, agility, strength, flexibility, and fitness.
- Develop the 5 A’s.
- Apply the footwork and movement patterns to a match situation.
- Move in all 6 directions and execute the right footwork in a match situation.
